7 Jahre Hecht

These words could just as well have come from those who opened Hecht in June 2019. Because one thing is clear: having no social contact makes you ill. Retreating into the virtual world may do you good – but it is not a real alternative. Sooner or later, we need one another. We need familiar places in public that welcome us – day and night, if necessary.

Hecht was born precisely from this idea: a place where strangers become friends. And there was a second love at play too, a devotion to Italian espresso culture.
As early as September 2017, nine young people founded the association «Friendship In Town» in a lightning-quick overnight action. Only then were they able to secure the chance to turn their dream venue on Tösstalstrasse into a café bar.

That is why we are celebrating on 13 June: 7 years of Hecht. At the same time, we are saying goodbye. After seven years, as founder and managing director, I will hand over the management of Hinteren Hecht into new hands on 1 July. The current gastro managers Robyne Dubief and Naomi Gertsch will take over the management of the entire operation going forward.
