Music open-air

Together we are celebrating another anniversary of the house. On 30 May 2026 we will show on Kapellplatz what is inside the cells and what connects us: music. Culture. Freedom. Sedel presents the cultural life from above the Rotsee, the history of Sedel and at the same time a look into the future.

The Sedel cultural centre is celebrating its 45th anniversary – a wonderful occasion to honour a place that has played a defining role in Lucerne’s cultural scene for decades. As a rehearsal space, club and lively meeting place, Sedel offers professional and up-and-coming musicians and event organisers space to develop their projects, exchange ideas and make culture accessible to a broad audience.

45 years of Sedel – the 45 Years Experience on Kapellplatz

For Sedel’s 45th anniversary, Lucerne’s old town becomes a stage: five bands from five different cells, each with their own musical style, bring their creative energy to the open-air stage at Kapellplatz.

A celebration for the Sedel community, for music lovers, for strolling Saturday shoppers and for curious tourists. A musical supporting programme ensures top entertainment from 4 p.m. Food stalls invite visitors to enjoy themselves, while the bar provides the right refreshment with cool drinks. Various stalls and guests will round off the entertainment programme.

After the Sedel Open Air in the old town, the anniversary continues into the next round: Sedel ILM invites everyone celebrating to Lucerne’s local mountain – the former prison – where the Sedel Gala continues deep into the night.

HUCKLEBERRY KINGS (Metal)

The kings rely on a hard and raw sound, but never forget the melodies in their noise. They cross over everything they can, with influences from metal, hardcore and punk. Huckelberry Kings will give you a proper blast!

CONTRAVOZ (Hybrid Bass Punk Rap)

Contravoz stands for hard, electronically influenced rap with roots in hip-hop and a sound between boom-bap, trap, dubstep, hardstyle and rap metal. Spanish vocals meet distorted synths, heavy drums, precise scratches, metal guitars, screams and clear rap flows.

QLESAAR (Stoner Rock)

Qlesaar’s massive wall of sound is characterised by guitar solos, heavy groove riffs and a powerful rhythm section, as well as slow, melodic, psychedelic passages and intros.

THE SIDETRACKS (Garage Punk)

Swamp-Trash’n’Roll is listed on the package insert. In the small print, you’ll find the note that use is recommended only for severe garage infection, because the decibel extravaganza combined with noisy, scratchy guitars could otherwise cause severe nausea and dizziness.
